I’m sure Free Comic Book Day feels like years ago now but it was this past weekend and damn was it huge! I couldn’t believe how huge it was. And some of the costumes people wore were outstanding! All I can think is what the hell is gonna happen next year? How could it possibly be improved? A Convention? Please god, let this happen!

Did you know what’s coming this Saturday? You should. If you’re reading this comic, you DAMN WELL should! It’s Free Comic Book Day!! There’s gonna be so much goodness happening in Melbourne. In particular, All Star Comics are putting on a spread like nothing we’ve ever seen. They have not only decked out the store to provide all the wonderful free comics, but they have also managed to set up an artists alley in the laneway nearby (Hardware Street). I know I should talk about what comics are coming up or the Supanova convention in Gold Coast this weekend, but all I really wanna talk about is the new Man of Steel trailer. Holy shit…..holy….shit. HOW GOOD WAS IT?! I’ll be honest, I wasn’t massively excited about it up until now. I wasn’t down on them making another Superman film, but I guess I just didn’t know what to expect. But NOW I am all in!! Bring on the boy scout!!

It’s so true, isn’t it? Jay-Z has managed to slip his music into almost the entire music industry. Smart. Very smart. And soon he’ll launch his attack — triggering all the sleeper agents throughout the world with his latest top of the charts song, sending the world into chaos!!

What? It could happen.

Be sure to head to Supanova this weekend and pick yourself up some great local comics. Don’t waste your money on those shitty toy swords or a photo with the latest B-grade actor from some Star Trek spin-off. Spend it on quality comics!!

What a total hipster!

Are you all heading to SupaNova next weekend? You should be. Dave Gibbons will be attending, so you should all grab your well worn copies of Watchmen and get him to sign it. And then ask him about one of the million times when Alan Moore shot his mouth off about some comic company. I’m sure he’s got plenty of stories.

If you do head along, be sure to swing by the Artists Alley and scope out what all the Aussie talent is creating. I know I’ll be popping in to check out Mike Wszelaki’s latest comic, Frogman. I’ve had a read of the preview and it looks like it’s going to be a really honest take on a superhero comic. Check it out at the link.

I’d like to thank each and every person who came along to the Big Arse launch. It was a beautiful day — perfect weather for launching 14 comics. It killed me just looking at all the amazing comics available and know that I could only really afford a couple. I’ll definitely get my hands on the rest as time goes by, but us lowly publishers aren’t swimming in money.
